The new air conditioners designed and built today are much quieter and use far less energy than those in the past. The EPA is also banning the production of R22 equipment, the refrigerant used in most commercial and residential air conditioning equipment, in the year 2010 because of the harmful effects on the ozone. This means that repairs to R 22 equipment will become more and more expensive because of the availability of the product. The new ozone friendly choice is R410-A.
